Some of the most sublime moments of my writing life occur when verses come sailing into my journal as a complete poem. Landing on a page as if from another world, these lines catch me by surprise and lift me up to numinous realms.

Not all poems are so otherworldly or ecstatic in their arrival. Yet even verses that begin with a mundane or challenging theme have a way of striking off on their own to penetrate veils of time and space where the ordinary does not exist.

Always in these moments do I find myself illumined, enchanted, intrigued and encouraged by the wit and wisdom which my muse graciously offers me in those twilight, thin-place hours of heightened awareness where poetry is born of heart and soul.
